Swags & Jabots

Product: Prestige Velour; Beacon Theatre; Owner: Madison Square Garden Entertainment; Architects and Planners: Beyer, Binder & Belle; General Contractor: Lehr Construction

Swags and Jabots are ornamental additions to a curtain. Swags are made of fabric pleated at each end and draped down in the center to form an esthetic bottom curve. A jabot (i.e. tail or cascade) is a folded piece of fabric that falls from the top of the curtain in a zig-zag shape. Jabots fall gracefully from the top at either side of a swag or at the sides and middle of a series of swags. Swags and Jabots are ornamental additions to a curtain. Fullness can be manufactured into a drape using a variety of different pleats or shirring. It can also be “hung in” using Ripplefold (i.e. roll-pleats) or Pipe and Grommet.
