Rose Brand Design & Fabrication Department Full Time Design Engineer- NJ

Rose Brand, North America’s leading provider of theatrical fabrics and production supplies, is seeking a talented, dedicated professional to join our Design and Fabrication department. For more than a decade, Rose Brand has been designing and fabricating motor controlled, custom drape track systems, as well as modular framing systems. Our products are fabricated in our Secaucus, New Jersey facility by trained craftsmen who take pride in their attention to detail and quality workmanship.

Job Description:
  • Design, detail, specify, and document curtain and motion control systems (manual and automated) for live performance events and permanent installations.
  • Assist in the development new products and assist with improvements to existing product lines.
  • Manage technical data and compliance documentation for new and existing systems.
  • Coordinate and manage technical design documentation for projects.
  • Create accurate parametric CAD models of existing products and new designs.
  • Output accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings of existing products and new designs, includes technical and presentation documents.
  • Communicate current mechanical design requirements and tolerances to fabrication staff or to sub-assembly suppliers.
  • Collaborate with fabrication to document and improve process design.
  • Provide technical support for fabrication, sales, and customers.
  • Responsible for the successful completion of projects in a timely fashion and within stated budgetary parameters.
Critical Functions:
  • Using Inventor and AutoCAD software, design mechanical components and systems.
  • Work with Project Managers and Sales Team on small to large customer projects. Ensure consistency of documentation and supporting paperwork.
  • Work hand-in-hand with our in-house fabrication shop on design execution and R & D projects.
  • Create renderings, drawings, and other graphical representations of designs for projects and installations.
  • Coordinate with contracted architects and engineers on designs, technical support, drawings, renderings, and all pertinent technical correspondence.
  • Provide necessary technical support for manufacturing, sales, and the company’s distribution network.
  • Keep up to date with trends, technological changes, safety, compliance, and other relevant industry standards.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of, or interest in, the entertainment technology industry.
  • Mechanical design experience using current parametric CAD software, such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
  • Experience with Adobe products such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign helpful. MS Office proficiency.
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in one of the following: Mechanical Engineering/Industrial Design, Entertainment or Theatrical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics, with proficiency in industrial automation control systems.
  • Knowledge of ANSI, NEC, UL, and ESTA standards is helpful.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential.
Background or interest in several of the following:
  • Motion Control and robotics
  • Live Event Staging, Automation, Video, and Rigging Systems will be helpful, but not required.
  • Project Management
  • Industrial Automation
  • Power Transmission
