Westridge School Upgrades to Safer, Sustainable IFR Stage Curtains
Westridge School in Pasadena recently underwent a campus-wide upgrade of soft goods, including the stage curtains in the historic Fran Norris Scoble Performing Arts Center and Braun Theatre. Rose Brand designed, fabricated, and installed new inherently flame-retardant (IFR) curtains, sustainable fabrics, and acoustical wall treatments to replace the school’s aging cotton drapery. Thanks to the rigging expertise of the Rose Brand West installation team, the project brought new life to the Westridge stages—creating safer, greener, and better-sounding performance environments for students.

Producing & Rigging Outdoor Projection Screens
Legendary rock band Phish hosted their 10th Magnaball extravaganza at the racetrack in Watkins Glen, New York. The 40,000 fan sellout event featured music, fun, and multi-media extravaganzas over the course of a 3-day weekend. A centerpiece of the festival was a 175’ wide projection screen rigged to the back of the race track bleachers. Rose Brand Inc. provided the screen, surrounding masking, and installation management.

Space Transformation from Single to Multi-Purpose
Our customer needed a quick and easy way to create a dual use space. They wanted to transform an everyday gymnasium into an elegant event space whenever desired. In a short amount of time they wanted a bare gymnasium to be lined with gorgeous white silk drapes and flowing ceiling swags. And of course, they needed to protect the delicate white soft goods during volleyball tournaments. This was a challenging request for which we developed a surprisingly simple solution: a unique application of curtain track and custom fabrication.

When the design team in charge of renovating and transforming Broadway’s Court Theatre into the James Earl Jones Theatre, their vision included a digitally printed wall treatment that would extend “seamlessly” from the Basement up through the 3rd floor. Each floor practically floats in space, mostly detached from the walls, which allows the imagery to flow without interruption up all four stories.

Each year they host a hoop jam with top DJs and throughout the year they create structures for hooping events around the country. Their shade structure is one of the largest covered spaces at Burning Man and is reserved for hooping, spinning and dancing.

Project Management and Custom Sewing for the American Repertory Theater
Stephen Setterlun, Technical Director at the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University, was staring down a fast approaching opening for Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. His production specs called for over 60 Marvel Velour fabric panels in Rouge, each in a unique size, many with different hanging finishes. He needed the reassurance that his project would be completed on time with precision, technical skill, and closely matched dye lots of fabric.
