Acoustic Fabrics & Foam
Acoustic fabrics play an important role in sound dampening and soundproofing many architectural environments: theaters, concert halls, auditoriums, event spaces, meeting rooms, churches, recording studios, museums, restaurants, and more. Conversely, some of our acoustic fabrics are acoustically transparent to allow sound to flow freely. Fabrics such as Speaker Cloth and Sonic Stretch can hide speakers or speaker components without baffling sound.
Rose Brand sells sound dampening fabric by the yard and manufactures custom made acoustic curtains. Learn more about our custom made curtains, and if you're ready, request a quote online. These fabrics are widely used for sound absorption or for sound transparency.

FAQs
Why should I use sound-absorbing fabric and panels to control sound?
Performance venues, in particular, have exacting acoustical requirements that vary depending on what is presented. Curtains and fabric panels are a relatively economical way to control sound, and they can be easily adjusted to moderate the amount of reverberation inherent to the hall. Curtain placement, fullness, and density all play a role in sound management.
How do I know which acoustic fabric is best?
Unfortunately, there's no one-size-fits-all for acoustic fabric since your requirements will differ from other spaces. However, once it's been determined how much absorption is needed in a room, and roughly where sound-absorbing fabric needs to be placed, it’s time to take a look at materials to see how much absorption they provide.
Our acoustic fabrics are all rated for sound absorption. Their “Absorption Coefficient” represents the average amount of sound absorbed by a material across low, mid, and high frequencies. A zero value represents a perfectly reflective surface, while a value of one represents a perfect absorber. The score represents an average of how the fabrics perform at low, mid, and high frequencies. Similarly, a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) is a way to compare absorption specifically across four mid-frequency octaves (250Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz).
Most of our rated velours are very effective sound absorbers, so it might be most important to choose the one that suits your visual preference and then figure out how much area of that fabric is needed. If area is limited, the highest NRC fabrics will provide the most overall absorption at mid-frequencies. In most cases, a lightweight velour will provide good high frequency performance, but much less absorption at low frequencies. If absorption of low frequencies is required, choose heavier fabrics and add fullness via box, knife, or pinch pleats.
