Swags & Jabots

Swags and Jabots are ornamental additions to a curtain. Swags are made of fabric pleated at each end and draped down in the center to form an aesthetic bottom curve. A jabot (aka tail or cascade or waterfall) is a folded piece of fabric that falls from the top of the curtain in a zig-zag shape. Jabots fall gracefully from the top at either side of a swag or at the sides and middle of a series of swags.

Austrian Swag
An Austrian swag is a valance made like an Austrian curtain. The drape is pleated vertically to give the appearance of a series of swags in a row. 

 

 

 

Scallop Swag
The fullness in the scallop swag is evenly spaced throughout its length, forming arcs that radiate out from the center of the swag.

 

 

 

Jabot
Jabots are fabric panels that typically cascade down the side of or between swags. They often have a complementary fabric as a liner or fringe.

 

 

 

Point to Point Swag
The fullness in this swag is pulled to the outer corners, leaving the center of the swag flat.
