Snowstar Snow & Confetti Machine for Purchase

Rose Brand’s Snowstar theatrical snow and confetti machine is a motorized, rotating, perforated aluminum tube that creates beautiful falling snow or confetti effects, from a dusting to a blizzard depending on the speed you set.  The modular snow tumblers can be linked together to span virtually any size stage.  

 

The system uses a simple gear motor that can drive up to 16 linked tumblers – up to 80' of snow falling from a single motor.  Adjusting the speed of rotation for faster or slower snowfall is accomplished by turning a potentiometer on the controller, connected via a 60' control cable. (Note: Native DMX control is not available although basic cueing can be achieved by plugging the motor into a conventional DMX controlled dimmer to vary the speed by dimming the motor voltage) Adjust the quanties of each component to create your system.

 

To configure your Snowstar machine, you will need:

(1)    Motor Drive (SNOW0005) – includes two hanger and clamp brackets for motor and live end of snow tumbler

(1 or more) 5' x 8” diameter  Snow Tumbler (SNOW0003 )

(1 or more) Hanger and clamp brackets for dead end of tumbler (SNOW0004)

(i.e. 1 additional bracket for each section of tumbler is required)

 

The standard drum has 3/8" hexagonal perforations.  An alternative tumbler has 1” square holes (SNOW0007) to allow for more aggressive snow fall or for larger size snow particles.   A tumbler should be filled to a maximum 2/3 full of snow to allow the rotation to create a proper falling effect.

The following guidelines will be helpful to estimate the amount of snow you will require for your effect:

5 lbs. of paper snow FR or confetti will fill a snow tumber to capacity, 2/3 Full.  At the slowest speed, this amount of snow will last for 1-2 hours.  At the fastest speed, it will last approximately 30 minutes.  Paper snow can be swept up after use and reused from night to night, depending on whether it gets dirty from the stage floor or not.

 2-½ lbs. of coarse Biodegradable snow will fill a snow tumbler to capacity, approximately 2/3 full.  At the slowest speed, this amount of snow will last for 25-45 minutes.  Some amount of snow will clump or be too large to fit through the tumbler holes.  It maybe be fully utilized by later cutting these larger particles into smaller pieces using scissors or an “herb roller.” biodegradable snow should not be reused from night to night.
