This newest Harness from Petzl (shown in Black/Yellow, no longer available online) is designed for maximum comfort in any situation and features an X-Shaped dorsal construction to more evenly distribute body weight and reduce pressure points during prolonged suspension. The waist and leg padding are semi rigid and wider to relieve pressure points and are made of a perforated foam to allow ventilation.

Many other features have been redesigned for added safety and ease of use. In case of fall on the dorsal point, this harness has been designed to help distribute body weight to the leg loops allowing the user to remain suspended longer while awaiting rescue. A fall indicator on the Dorsal attachment point indicates when the harness has been subject to a fall and should be retired. Self locking DoubleBack buckles are used on each side of the waist belt and shoulder straps for easy adjustment and fold away side attachment points are designed to help prevent snagging. FAST buckles on the leg loops can be easily opened and closed without needing adjustment even while wearing gloves. The AVAO harness has six pre-shaped equipment loops, four CARITOOL retainers, and two slots for the TOOLBAG tool pouch (sold separately).
