New England Ropes® STS-12

STS 12™ (formerly Endura 12) is manufactured from 100% HMPE fiber. The result is a rope that is extremely high strength, very lightweight, and very low stretch. The 12-strand single braid construction is supple, non-rotational, and easily spliced. STS 12 is ideally suited for wire replacement and where weight is a primary design consideration.
Features:
  • Excellent strength-to-weight ratio
  • Excellent wet/dry strength retention
  • Floats
  • Will not absorb water
  • Urethane coated for improved abrasion resistance and color coding
  • Spliceable
Spool   Diameter   SWL/LBS 10:1 factor*   Tensile
600' 1/4" 970 9700
600' 1/8" 230 2300

*The Cordage Institute specifies that the Safe Working Load (SWL) guideline shall be determined by dividing the miniumum tensile strength of the rope by a safety factor. The safety factor ranges from 5 to 12 for non critical uses and is typically set at 15 for lifelines. Rose Brand lists a SWL of 10:1 as a guideline for choosing a fiber rope.
